Phoenix Comic Con has become an annual tradition in the Southwest as a great, up and coming large pop culture event. On it’s 14th year now, the con traditionally always has at least one major Star Wars guest. Recent years we’ve had Ray Parks, Daniel Logan, Jeremy Bullock, and Billy Dee Williams.
This year with our early guest announcements there are 3 guests that should make Star Wars fans happy:
Sam Witwer (Actor) -Darth Vader’s vengeful apprentice, “StarKiller” in the LucasArts’ video game sensation Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Parts One and Two). Through high-tech digital referencing and motion capture, Sam has become the voice and face of this LucasArts’ creation in which the first title grossed over 500 million dollars and whose highly anticipated sequel will be released later this fall. Sam has also done extensive voice work for the fan-favorite Clone Wars, which includes his most current role as ‘Darth Maul’.
Timothy Zahn (Author) – Author of many fan favorite Star Wars Expanded Universe series novels including introducing fan favorite characters Admiral Thrawn and Mara Jade (who eventually goes on to become Luke Skywalker’s wife) into the Star Wars universe of characters.
Terry Brooks (Author) – Terry is an original author who’s Shannara series reinvigorated the dying fantasy genre. He wrote the novelization for The Phantom Menace.
Phoenix Comic Con is expected to bring in over 40 thousand guests this next year and is held over Memorial Day Weekend May 23-26th 2013 – other guests slated to appear: Amanda Tapping, Jewel Staite, Kristin Bauer, Garrett Wang, and a 10 member panel for a Babylon 5 reunion including Bruce Boxleitner and Walter Koenig.
