Oh man I’d forgotten how awesome it is to get a Jedi Master from Sideshow. Qui-Gon is one beautiful figure. Likeness-wise they did a very nice job of matching Liam Neeson’s facial features. His expression is very stoic. Jedi clothing is always exceptional – nice, detailed, and life-like. The robe is awesome, has a little piece of wiring sewed into the edges of the hood so that you can shape the way that it hangs around his face.
All of his doo-dads are great also. You get 2 lightsabers, one that’s not extended and the other that is. You can take the hilt and hang it off of his belt for when he’s not in action. Around his belt are 2 little cases that are plastic that actually have lids that are on hinges and snap shut. You can fit everything except for the Holoprojector into the cases.
Articulation wise, my figure’s right arm doesn’t seem to want to bend at the elbow, I think that comes from it being kept in package for too long. These guys were made to be taken out and displayed.
Overall – Qui-Gon seems to be a character that people just don’t have a hard time making nice molds of. Even the cheapest of 12″ figures from Hasbro look like Qui-Gon. Once I unearth my Portrait set from Hasbro with Qui-Gon and Padme, I’ll be interested to see which I prefer. The Hasbro version has a slight edge because they made him taller. However, the Sideshow figure far outruns the playline figures on quality. He’s gorgeous.
