Anakin Skywalker “Attack of the Clones” Gentle Giant Mini-Bust – Review

The Anakin Skywalker Mini-Bust by Gentle Giant was produced in 2002. Artist Proof AP8/50/2500

.This bust was one of the first generation busts that are known to collectors as being from the “armless” collection. The bust stands 6″ tall and has nice heft to it.

I absolutely love the busts by Gentle Giant. Each one is a miniature, perfectly sculpted representation of the characters. The sculpting itself rarely misses even the smallest of details. For this piece – highlights include the extreme detail that went into Anakin’s Padawan braid and the 3 texturally different fabrics depicted on the bust.

My particular bust is an artist proof, so it’s got some excess paint that’s showing up right below Anakin’s hairline. The hair and costume detailing are amazing, however, the bust falls slightly short on Anakin’s facial sculpting. Although the face looks like Hayden Christensen, it’s slightly on the generic side when it comes to his facial expression. This could also be because my bust is an artist proof and it’s possible that the paint wasn’t fully applied to the face to give it more depth. The photos that advertise the bust from Gentle Giant show him w/a bit more facial expression, particularly through the brow area than mine does.

Overall thoughts, the bust is lovely. I hope that somewhere down the line they redo the armless busts with the more detailed arm versions.
